CASE ANALYSIS

A Case Analysis is far and away our most popular special education legal service, as it offers parents outstanding value. It stems from our experiences as both parents and professionals. We review the specifics of your case and potential outcomes at a reduced rate and without the need to commit to any particular course of action.

First, we will need to schedule a Case Analysis meeting with you at one of our offices in Northern Virginia, or remotely. Typically, the meeting lasts for two hours. One of our special education attorneys will discuss with you the most appropriate course of action to get the special education services your child needs. They will also review the laws you should be aware of in your specific case, and their professional legal opinion. We welcome any and all questions you may have during this time.

Before the Meeting

Prior to your Case Analysis meeting, send us copies of the following documents. Arrange them in the order described below, and chronologically. Do not send original documents.

  • Current and previous two IEPs, if available. Include any other official documents from the school, such as eligibility records for Prior Written Notices, and all testing results (e.g., psychological, educational, speech, occupational or physical therapy, etc.) you may have.
  • Current progress reports (e.g., report cards, interims, data books, etc.).
  • Any correspondence relevant to your case (e.g., email, letters to and from school faculty).
  • A parent narrative, which is a critical component of the Case Analysis. It gives us an outline of your child’s educational history and a good idea of what you hope to achieve for your child through working with us. Include your home and billing address, the best phone numbers to contact you (e.g., home, cell, work), and your preferred email address.
  • Fee. A $650 check made payable to The Brownley Law Group should be sent with your information files. If you prefer to use a major credit card, we can process that payment for you.

The average turnaround time from when we receive your files to the day of the Case Analysis meeting is about one week.

In preparation for the meeting, our special education attorneys will review your file for approximately two hours. This review time is included in the flat rate fee of $650 for the Case Analysis. Thus, parents receive four to five hours of an attorney’s time for less than half of the normal rate.

After the Meeting

Following the Case Analysis, you may decide to retain The Brownley Law Group. We’re happy to discuss this during the meeting, or later when you’ve given it some more thought.

We will work with you to execute your chosen course of action as efficiently and effectively as possible. We are here to help you achieve your goals and meet your child’s needs. We offer a full range of services, from advocacy to litigation, and the ability to flex between them. We will litigate if necessary, but our philosophy is that most goals can be achieved through mediation. We look forward to working with you to help meet the needs of your child and get them the education they are entitled to receive.

Ultimately, whether you decide to retain our services or not, we’ve found Case Analysis to be the best method of becoming acquainted with your special education needs. We’re able to recommend possible courses of action that outline the pros, cons, and costs of each—allowing you to choose what is best for you and your family.

Special education is our passion. We are here to help.
