Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)

  • ACPS is proposing a Virtual PLUS+ model through the end of the first quarter. It will provide virtual learning with additional supports, such as formalized social, emotional, and academic learning and development.
  • Virtual PLUS+ will include:
    • A bell schedule
    • Daily live instruction
    • Additional academic supports as needed, such as one-on-one or small group instruction
    • The possibility of in-person support if needed
  • Students in pre-K through first grade will receive electronic tablets.
  • Students in grades 2–12 will receive Chromebooks.
  • This model and more details will be officially proposed on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020.
  • ACPS is asking families to complete the Virtual PLUS+ survey to share their thoughts on additional supports needed in the fall.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS)

SCPS has provided additional information about their Return to Learn plan. It will start with 100% virtual learning for at least the first quarter.

  • In-person instructional opportunities may be available to students requiring specialized education services, including those:
    • With significant disabilities who cannot learn in a distance model
    • Who receive instruction through the Aligned Standards of Learning curriculum
    • Who may receive more in-person support through programs such as:
      • Autism
      • Intellectually Disabled
      • Behavior Support
      • Developmentally Delayed
      • Early Childhood Special Education
      • Gateway Academy
      • Courthouse Academy.
    • Decisions around in-person learning will be made through the Individualized Education Program team.

Stafford County Public Schools

Stafford has announced that most students will return to school 100% virtually through the end of the first semester. There may still be exceptions for special education students that require in-person instruction.
