Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)
- Summer Learning for All
- ACPS will be offering summer learning and enrichment for all students as part of their Continuity of Learning Plan 3.0. All students are expected to participate. Families will be required to complete an opt-out form if they do not wish to participate.
- Summer learning will include both synchronous and asynchronous learning, learning kits, and enrichment in the arts. Its purpose is to prepare students for school next year.
- ACPS announced there will not be a traditional extended school year. Special education teachers will provide specialized instruction to special education students participating in summer learning. Students will continue to receive related services (e.g., speech, occupational, and physical therapy).
Arlington Public Schools (APS)
- APS has presented three options for returning to school:
- Starting school with distance learning. This is a very possible scenario and would include synchronous instruction of new content.
- Reopening schools with a hybrid of in-person and online instruction. This option would include different requirements, such as social distancing and class size limits.
- Reopening schools as normal. This is unlikely as of right now.
- APS will form a task force to focus on the reopening plans. It will include leadership and staff from different departments, as well as designated staff, student and parent stakeholders, and representatives from established APS advisory groups.
Falls Church City Public Schools (FCCPS)
- FCCPS has developed a survey to receive feedback on distance learning. They hope to improve their services in case the 2020-2021 school year also includes distance learning.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS)
- LCPS is planning for three possible scenarios for the 2020-2021 school year. More information on what these scenarios will look like will be shared over the summer.
- Reopen schools as usual, with no changes.
- Reopen schools with a combination of in-person and distance learning, in which in-person learning would include social distancing and other strategies.
- Extend distance learning.
